Fillmore SAR Team
The Ventura County Sheriff Mountain Search and Rescue Team One Fillmore is comprised of highly skilled operators who are available to respond to various Emergencies in Ventura County.
Team One Fillmore is an all-volunteer branch of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office covering all 1,873 square miles of Ventura County including Frazier Park, Hungry Valley, Mt. Pinos and the 43 miles of coastline. The team is trained to use specialized equipment to handle a variety of emergencies such as high-angle rock rescues, snow and ice rescues, extreme weather rescues, natural disaster rural/urban rescues, car-over-the-side accident rescues, swiftwater rescues, and any other medical emergencies. The team is MRA Cer1fied and is highly proficient in all aspects search opera1ons in any clime and place. Team One was the First Search and Recue Team In the County of Ventura, they have been Proudly serving the County since 1946. In those early years, the team would primarily search on horseback because of the rough terrain. In the late 1950s, the Sheriff’s Office augmented their horses and privately owned vehicles with surplus military four- wheel-drive vehicles. In the early 1970s, the Sheriff’s Office formed its Air Unit, and Search & Rescue went airborne. The Sheriff’s Office also began to acquire newer vehicles/equipment to support the Search and Rescue Teams mission.
